21-year-old Lisa Courtney from Hertfordshire today celebrates being officially recognised as the biggest collector of Pokemon memorabilia in the world, having accumulated 12,113 different items over 13 years. Her incredible record-breaking collection, which is still growing in size, has been featured in the brand new edition of Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition, published Thursday 21 January 2010. Tito Jackson of the Jacksons and former Jacksons/Jackson 5 publicist Steve Manning will both testify in court against Julien's Auctions that they misled the public in the sale of a Platinum RIAA Award Disc sold by them on June 26 2009 was from the 'Collection Of David Gest'. Former Jacksons/Jackson 5 publicist Steve Manning stated: "I personally consigned this disc to the Gotta Have It store in New York. They gave it to Julien's Auctions knowing that I owned it. When the catalogue came out, it listed this item 'From The Collection Of David Gest'. I even questioned them about it and never got a real response. They obviously and intentionally used David Gest's name to attract more publicity to the auction, especially in the UK where Gest is a huge reality television star. Nothing was done to change this in the catalogue. This was definitely my record and I will testify in court that Julien's Auctions misled the public by fraudulently saying it was 'From The Collection Of David Gest' when it was not." Tito Jackson added: "I am amazed that an auction house like Julien's Auctions would use David Gest's name to sell an item that was not his. There are a number of the items that they listed in their Michael Jackson catalogue on June 26-27 that never even belonged to David Gest. I will also testify in court that this RIAA Award Disc for Thriller Presented to Steve Manning never belonged to David Gest". Reality Television star and Producer David Gest is suing Julien's Auctions in Hollywood, California, for $1,000,000.00 punitive damages plus additional compensatory damages for falsely attaching 'The Collection Of David Gest' to items they sold of Michael Jackson that Gest never owned on 26-27 June 2009. Strictly Come Dancing has been declared the world's most successful reality television format, joining Oasis and the stars of Harry Potter as new entries to the Guinness World Records book. The format for the hit BBC1 show, which begins its seventh series on Friday, has been sold to 38 countries around the globe, earning it a place in the new edition of the book. The massive box office success of the Harry Potter franchise also earns entries in the new book for stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. Daniel was named "highest grossing actor of the decade" as his films earned an average of just under 400 million pounds at the box office, while Emma took the record for "highest average box-office gross for an actress". She has been in six movies that grossed an average of more than 550 million pounds. Despite their recent split, Oasis also made the book, taking the record for the longest run of top 10 hits in the UK chart by a group after bagging 22 consecutive top 10 places. Take That's hugely successful comeback earned another spot in the new book for a 90s band. All 600,000 tickets for their tour this year sold out within five hours of going on sale on October 31 last year, making it the fastest-selling UK tour of all time. Evergreen singer Sir Cliff Richard set a new record for most UK chart singles by a British act. Having not cut her nails since 1979, she entered the Guinness World Records book in 2002 for the world's longest fingernails on a female pair of hands. In February, Mark Collins PR undertook a three-month project for the UK's only national speech radio station, talkSPORT, to create and execute the PR strategy for the brand new Russell Brand & Noel Gallagher Radio Show Special. Working closely with the station's key executives and personnel in the lead up to the big day, our brief, simply to create mass consumer and trade coverage for the high profile show, which would mark Brand's return to radio after the Sachsgate affair. As well as securing blanket coverage in national newspapers and online in the lead up to TX, we ensured news of the show went global, with the thanks to a certain on-air phone message left for Barack Obama and a reunion between Brand and with Jonathan Ross. The station experienced a 250% boost in website traffic with listeners logging on to read about the show prior to it airing.

In March, Mark Collins PR joined forces with the Walking with Dinosaurs team to oversee the media launch of the brand new 40 million pound production of Walking with Dinosaurs - The Arena Spectacular, touring the UK from summer 2009. Mark Collins PR were called upon to devise and run the PR campaign for the DVD release of the feature-length computer animated movie Garfield's Fun Fest marking the 30th anniversary of the world's most-famous tart-tongued tabby and a revival of the cartoon brand in the UK. Work included liaising with/setting up interview for creator Jim Davis, as well as working with product managers and external brand licensees; researching and preparing the PR strategy; securing positive reviews, news and feature coverage as well as placing competitions, talent interviews and online activity. As well as securing coverage in all key kids' press, interviews with Jim Davis and spreads around the DVD ran in the Telegraph, Guardian, Daily Record - with a rare interview with Garfield himself serviced via PA meaning a healthy dose of online and regional press on the day of the DVD release.

April saw us handed a month-long freelance project for UKTV, supporting their press office around the launch of the newly rebranded TV channel Home. Work included promoting key programming such as the top-billed Celebrity Fantasy Homes. Here we took charge of pitching and setting up talent interviews around the new show, as well as taking the lead role in orchestrating a huge national research news story to hit day of launch, speech writing for channel execs and general PR support to ensure everything ran smoothly during the build up and on the day of launch.

Entertainment PR specialists Mark Collins PR were drafted in by the Sony Ericsson UK press office team with a month's contract at the lead agency working on the Channel 4 show Orange unsignedAct with Sony Ericsson. Work involved masterminding PR activity for the show undertaken by the sony Ericsson press office as well as co-ordinating a unit publicist based on site at the production office, an additional agency handling talent promo and a digital agency handling online coverage.


Working with British supermodel Daisy Lowe and 100 of Europe's diehard music fans, Mark Collins PR provided freelance support to the Sony Ericsson PR team and oversaw publicity for the final stages of the first ever international Sony Ericsson FanWalk, part of 2008's MTV Europe Music Awards. Alongside this, other projects involved devising and executing PR strategies for the launch of two Sony Ericsson handsets: Sony Ericsson W190i MOBO and the Sony Ericsson C905 Inca. This included setting up pan-western European press, marketing and sponsorship deals, leading international conference calls, working with separate experiential marketing agencies to ensure campaigns were synergised, plus client liaison, running multi-agency brainstorms and creating PR activities for Europe-wide roll out.


Having previously worked on PR'ing over 140 film and DVD titles, it was only natural that Mark Collins PR were taken on by the PR team for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Warner Home Video, to help boost PR for some of their key DVD releases, which included Hollywood blockbuster The Happening starring Mark Wahlberg and Steve McQueen's directing debut Hunger, released on DVD in Spring 2009.


Outside the realms of entertainment, Mark Collins PR worked with London's top yoga school QiYoga by driving people to sign up for the new range of courses for 2009. Along the way, we also helped highlight the amazing success rate of its 'QiYoga for Fertility' treatment, and spoke to b2b and consumer health and fitness press about this. Amongst other feats we secured a stand-out 10-page feature spread in the company's first-choice title, Yoga Magazine.
